Treatment Spotlight: Microneedling

Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic skin-rejuvenation procedure. Our FDA-approved, medical-grade, professional device contains numerous microfine needles, to systematically create micro-wounds in your skin’s surface, encouraging the skin’s natural healing response and allowing for deeper product penetration.

CONCERNS ADDRESSED WITH TREATMENT:

Microneedling encourages new collagen & elastin growth within 3 months, and may improve fine lines & wrinkles, scars, acne scars, age spots, large pores, skin laxity / loose skin, uneven skin tone & texture, pigmentation, and stretch marks.

EXPERIENCE:

We will apply a topical numbing cream around 20 minutes prior to treatment to ensure a more comfortable experience. While receiving treatment you may feel slight pressure and a vibrating sensation. The treatment concludes with a hydrating serum or calming treatment to help your skin heal. Immediately after treatment, you may feel like you have a moderate sunburn and your skin may feel warm and tighter than usual. This is normal and will usually subside within a few hours and fully recover within 24 hours. We highly recommend adding our Celluma LED Light Treatment following your Microneedling session, to further encourage collagen production and energize cells to speed healing.

TREATMENT COMBINATIONS:

If individual treatments are tolerated well separately first, Dermaplaning is a great addition to Microneedling treatments. Our professional LED light therapy and Epicutis Recovery Masks are the MOST common added on treatments to Microneedling as they assist in skin recovery almost immediately.

If you are planning a cosmetic injection of dermal fillers, it is recommended you schedule your microneedling treatment a minimum of 2 weeks prior or 4 weeks post treatment.

NUMBER & FREQUENCY OF TREATMENTS:

You will see surface-level results immediately after one treatment. For optimal results, Microneedling should be repeated every 4 weeks for a minimum of 3-6 treatments. Full laxity results from a Microneedling treatment will not be seen for up to 3 months.

POST-TREATMENT CARE:

Avoid sweating/workouts, steam/saunas, swimming & hot showers for 48 hours. Do not wash or dirty your face for 12 hours following your treatment to allow the micro-wounds to close and the ingredients to continue to improve your skin. Your skin may be flushed & warm immediately post-treatment. Drink plenty of pure drinking water to stay well hydrated & keep skin from becoming overheated or flushed. Staying cool is key to a fluid recovery!

It is normal to still see slight redness in spots after 24 hours.

  • No makeup for 24 hours following treatment.

  • No exercising or strenuous activity for the first 24-48 hours post-treatment.

  • Avoid sun exposure for a minimum of 48 hours post-treatment.

  • Active skincare can resume after 3 days

  • Avoid alcohol-based toners for 10-14 days as well as excessive sun exposure for 10 days.

*Clients should wear a button-down or wide neck top to each appointment, to aid in keeping skin cool following the treatment, as well as not having to pull a top over treated, open skin, post-procedure. Keeping the treated area clean, cool & well hydrated will provide optimal results.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:

This treatment is a minimally invasive procedure that may be beneficial for all skin types, however be aware of contraindications for pregnancy, nursing, reactive skin, aggravated rosacea, vascular weakness, or if you are using certain acne medications. If prone to cold sores, we recommend talking with your doctor about beginning a course of antiviral medication prior to treatment.

PRIOR TO APPOINTMENT:

Avoid waxing 1-2 weeks prior to treatment. 5 days prior to your appointment, please discontinue any retinol, retinoid, Vitamin A, AHA or BHA products.
