Ingredient Spotlight: Retinol
Retinol is a form of vitamin A (part of the retinoid family), widely known as one of the most effective ingredients in anti-aging skincare. It helps prevent fine lines & wrinkles, skin yellowing & discoloration and also is used to successfully aid in the treatment of acne, reducing breakouts. Retinol increases skin cell production (proliferation), bringing healthier skin cells to the surface. It helps unclog pores as it exfoliates your skin, and reveals a brighter, smoother, more even-looking skin tone.
And did you know retinol also encourages collagen production?… which can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, giving your skin a fresher, more plump appearance.

KEY INGREDIENTS WE LOVE TO SEE IN OUR RETINOL PRODUCTS
Retinol (Vitamin A) – converted to retinoic acid in the skin. Vitamin A helps to promote a clear complexion and an even skin tone.
Niacinamide – a potent, yet calming antioxidant that delivers multiple important benefits to the skin. It helps to reduce transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and improve barrier function. This is critical for healthy, bright skin. Additionally, it helps reduce redness, skin yellowing, and promotes an even skin tone.
Hexylresorcinol – helps to promote an even skin tone and reduce the inflammation that can lead to discoloration.
Resveratrol – a potent antioxidant. Recent studies have indicated a strong ability to promote a bright, even skin tone.
Hydroxyphenoxy Propionic Acid – helps to promote an even skin tone and leave the skin radiant.
Pro Tips
Begin by using the formula prescribed for you by your Licensed Esthetican twice per week at night only, gradually increasing usage to as often as the skin will tolerate. This will reduce the chances of redness, irritation and dryness.
Use retinol in the evening only, and make SURE to us a quality SPF every day (reapplying every 2 hours), regardless of the season. (Exposure to UV light causes retinol degradation, preventing positive outcomes.)
A little goes a long way with quality retinol. Use about a pea-sized amount for full-face application.
